There was an outdoor hockey game played yesterday in Buffalo between the Sabres and the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Star Spangled Banner was replaced with "God Bless America". This clip isn't from that game, so I will guess Buffalo does this frequently.
Hats off to the city of Buffalo and the Sabres hockey club.
Kate Smith used to regularly sing "God Bless America" before Philadelphia Flyers games in the 70's. Nothing wrong with GBA, but I much prefer The Star Spangled Banner.

Dear Lawrence,
I was just a kid back then but I remember it well. As a fan of the then lowly Penguins I loathed the Flyers. To make matters worse my best friend at the time loved the "Broad Street Bullies".
It's not really appropriate to replace the National Anthem with anything else. As it stands it is hardly ever sung in its entirety. Both the first and last verses are to be sung. (The only place I've ever heard it done right was at an Episcopal Church.) If people don't like "The Star Spangled Banner" we should go back to the previous/ original National Anthem "Hail, Columbia!"
Are you all talking about "Heil dir im Siegerkranz"?
Heil dir im Siegerkranz, Herrscher des Vaterlands! Heil, Kaiser, dir! Fhl in des Thrones Glanz Die hohe Wonne ganz, Liebling des Volks zu sein! Heil Kaiser, dir!
