It must be a mirage. I am now blind....old.....weary.....and delusional. But can it be......I feel like the poet Umru al Kais staring at the ruins......"Aaaaaahin alal atlal"

Who remains in the old ruins of Byzcath?.....who is here? Can a stranger spare a parched old man a drink?.....I have survived on mist loe these many long days.....

Alex.....Serge....Dr. John......ANYONE?!.....Mor Ephrem? Ahhhh....the war had long taken them away from us....the poor young fools <cough>...does a priest still roam the forum?....oh the pain of memories....<breaks down into tears with uncontrollable sobbing>....

It's good to be back.

eek

WOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!

It's been soooo long since I've been here...everything is old and new at the same time. I'm glad the forum's up and running...do you have any idea how boring it is to actually do your work in college rather than play around with internet message boards?! wink

And Samer, my friend, it's good to see you again, and everyone else too. You've all been in my prayers.

I just have one beef...where'd all my 300+ messages go? The registration thing called me a junior member...I hardly think that was called for... wink

Godspeed to all as we enter the new Syrian liturgical year this evening at Vespers.

Dear Mor Ephrem,

It is good to see you again!

I am elated that you and yours are safe and sound. I can't imagine the experience that you and the others at ground zero and nearby environs must have gone through. My heart and prayers go out to those whose expeience has a different and much sadder conclusion.

I noted your concern at being labeled a junior member. At my age being called a junior anything is rather unusual! Though, I must say it is not an altogether unpleasant one !
I guess our respective places on the life cycle shape our perspectives! biggrin

May your new Liturgical Year bring with it Joy!

I look forward to sharing discussion with you for a long time to come.

JOY!

Dear Sam,

Good to see you again!

Glass of sangria in the shade of a Palm Tree? Perhaps the life in the ruins will be easier for us to see?

Could the server have possibly picked a worse time to go down??? You all have been in my thoughts and prayers. Is there a symbol I can make on my keyboard that means "group hug"? Looking forward to seeing people check in.

Glory to Jesus Christ!

My goodness how I have missed you all! I hope that all has been well with you during this time of American national sorrow. I have kept each of you in my prayers over the past two (hard to believe it was that long) months.

Your brother in Christ,
Thomas

Brothers and Sisters: Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory Forever!

It has been almost two months since we were able to be with one another here in the 'virtual diocese' or 'virtual parish' of the Internet on ByzCath. I have been very concerned about the welfare of my friends and I have prayed that eac of my brethren was OK and surviving the horrendous events of September 11.

I was in Austin, Texas, doing a training for the Union on Workplace Violence and Bomb Threats, when I was in my rental car in the parking lot that fateful morning outside the Travis County Dept of Human Services Office. And I heard the news of the first plane assault; and then the second one. 15 minutes into the session, I learnedtaht there was "a fire NEAR the Pentagon" and I panicked. My Mom is in a nursing facility 4 blocks from the Pentagon -- and I lost it. After a half hour, I learned that she was OK and I was able to resume the training session although the trainees were less than attentive. I really needed a supportive group then and I really had wished that the forum were up and running. Alas, it was not and I had to rely upon the virtual prayers of my brethren at that time. By God's grace, they were there.

I spent three days, alone in a hotel room, with no one to talk to and I never missed this forum as much. I learned that it is the human contact with one's friends that makes such horrible events bearable; and I had no one.

I am so glad that we are back. And I both wish and pray that all who enter here will understand the values of our communitarian existence and be responsive to the needs of those who both post and "lurk".

Blessings, y'all! And pray for me and my Mom.

Dear Friends,

What a blessing that this site has returned!

The two months seemed to go on forever . . .

May God bless you all. Let us pray fervently for the victims of Sept. 11th and their families and us all at this terrible time.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on us and on Thy whole world!

Dear Mor Ephrem, Yong, Inawe et al.

Good to see you all back!

I don't about the "junior" titles and how one gets to advance to "intermediate," "featherweight" and "senior," but I wanted to confirm that all your ecclesial titles (Catholicos, Patriarch etc.) awarded by me before The Crash continue unabated.

And, Catholicos Mor Ephrem, please remember that purple, gold and green continue to be your liturgical colours even outside of Mardis Gras ...

God bless,

Alex

Alex!!! Gee, it's great to see everyone again! I was worried about my ecclesial status, but I'm glad I'm still where I was before. I'm glad we can all talk again.

And Dr. John, it's good to see you back here again, and I'm glad your Mom is alright, especially in light of that scare you had on the 11th. It was rough for us all. Thank God we are here again.

Dear Catholicos,

Actually, if you wanted a promotion, we can talk about that, you know.

It would still involve bowing your head before the screen, kissing your computer mouse etc.

I came across one of these vagantes who offered to make me a bishop of his church's "Anglican Rite."

He even tried to entice with promises of powers to canonize Anglican saints for liturgical veneration.

I told him that I've already canonized them . . .

p.s. How's your love life?

Alex
