Maybe a month or two ago, someone inquired about the movement toward a united Orthodox church of North America. I think this link is what he was looking for: www.ocl.org [ ocl.org] I was cleaning up the other day and found a brochure. Sorry, but I don't have an opinion of the movement. -Wolfgang

I had heard that there was some controversy over this particular group a few years back and the GOA Archbishop. But I have no idea what happened.
Any insights?

Their rhetoric may be Christ centered but their actions (vis a vis the Archbishops of the GOA) have, unfortunately, in my opinion, been anything but...
Don't even get Alexandr/Slavipodviznik started on them--he will be far less careful with his words than I am.

The OCL from what I gather is a great idea that unfortunately embraced a few too many political hot topics to really make a good go of it. (Womens Ordination plus a wee too harsh on the Bishops) If they let go of these fantastic side ventures and instead focused on getting the Orthodox together they would probably get somewhere.
I do need to add that about a year ago they subdued the feminist rhetoric a bit and dropped the demand that women be ordained to the priesthood and focused on the restoration of the female deaconate.
Pray that they can focus their efforts to just Orthodox unity.

I have no idea. I can only note that at the same time the OCL dropped this from their platform two womens "Orthodox" groups also deleted the call to women's ordination to the priesthood from their websites. The Orthodox it seems just aren't going to go for it. All in all it is a fruitless distraction for the laity in general.
