I read this on E-poshta of all places. Why is he not being ordained in Toronto? St. Petersburg, Florida: Ordination - Deacon Jaroslaw Shudrak -- Feb. 2 Deacon Jaroslaw Shudrak from Toronto Canada will be ordained to the Priesthood on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008 at the Epiphany of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church in St. Petersburg, Florida for the Parma Eparchy. Bishop Basil Losten will ordain Deacon Jaroslaw since the Eparch, Bishop Robert M. Moskal is ill.
The public is invited to share in this joy by attending the Divine Liturgy at 10:30 AM on Saturday, Feb.2, 2008.
Deacon Jaroslaw will assist the pastor, Mitrat Msgr. John P. Stevensky at the Epiphany of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Well it states he is being ordained for the Eparchy of St. Josaphat in Parma and he is to serve Epiphany Church in St. Petersburg, sounds reasonable to me.

Many Years Fr. Yaroslav. Axios and Mnohaya lita. He has had a house in Florida for many years, and hopefully will enjoy retirement from his busy dental practice. FDRLB

Seems normal enough. If Father Jaroslaw is retiring from his dental practice and moving to Florida, is willing to accept the Priesthood, and the relevant Bishop wants him ordained to the priesthood, there is no particular reason for the Bishop of Parma to request a retired Bishop to celebrate the ordination because the Bishop of Parma is unable to go to Florida himself.

I bet like so many 'northreners' he just wanted to retire in the south. What an awesome way to make the move!

Was there also a subdeaconal ordination that same day? Yes there was, Paul Galadze from Miami was ordained to the Sub-diaconate. He also cantored the entire liturgy and did an excellent job! Peace, Deacon Richard

Mnohaya lita, Axios, and congratulations to Subdeacon Paul as well. What a blessing for the entire Ukrainian Greek Catholic community there.

Paul Galadza does indeed chant very well. He also speaks English very well, and would therefore be able to tell you that "cantor" is a noun, not a verb!
