One can surely do better than an encyclopedia article! If you want a Catholic author, I suggest Father J. - M. Tillard.

But the first problem is defining jurisdiction itself, in Christian usage. That is no easy task.

Very true Father Serge, but I'm assuming that many people don't always have the time to read a whole book on the subject. Encyclopedia articles have the advantage of being concise.

Encyclopedia articles also have the double disadvantage of being oversimplified, and often written on the level of the Reader's Digest!
