Ugh!!! I literally just saw a clip on the 11:00 Action News (WPVI) about the vandalization of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Byzantine Catholic Church in Levittown, PA. It looked REALLY bad.
I will post a link when I find one...

Oh man. That's awful. My prayers go out to the parishioners of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. I can't believe that's not the first time it's happened!

Just this weekend at a rather famous Marian Shrine in my backyard, three youths were arrested attempting to vandalize some statues there.
Today (February 11) is the 150th Anniversary of the first of the apparitions to St. Bernadette Soubirous at Lourdes. Many indulgences are being offered in connection to this feast. The "Immaculate Conception," as Mary identified herself, is chief in the batttle against Satan and his legion.
Let us not forget that on days such as these, and in seasons like Lent, the Devil is particularly active, evidenced by such terrible acts of vandalism and blasphemy.
"Stay sober and alert, the devil is prowling like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, solid in your faith."

I feel very sad when I see things like this happen.
May the Lord have mercy on the perpetrators and may He bring bring comfort and consolation to the parishioners of this embattled church.
In IC XC, Father Anthony+
Everyone baptized into Christ should pass progressively through all the stages of Christ's own life, for in baptism he receives the power so to progress, and through the commandments he can discover and learn how to accomplish such progression. - Saint Gregory of Sinai

Dear Friends,
May the Lord punish the perpetrators in such a way that they may come to realize to "be still and know that I am God."
Jon's point about the activity of the evil one at times like today is correct.
Even at Lourdes, people would hear evil, anxious voices calling out to them to "stay away from here!" and they would even experience evil apparitions and the like.
Perhaps it is not a coincidence that St Bernadette said that our Lady at Lourdes resembled the Theotokos as depicted on icons like Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

Here's the story about the vandalism in Emmitsburg. [ nbc4.com] Our faith is resilient, however. Yesterday when I went there for the Feast, the grotto was in excellent condition and every candle in the cave was burning. Many pilgrims were there yesterday! There was a beautiful documentary on EWTN yesterday as well about the Shrine here in Emmitsburg. If you have never stopped by when passing on US 15, make it a point to make the detour!
