He's still driving around in his environmentally-hostile SUV! Bottom line: all of this "global warming" hype is part of an international political power grab. We manufacture a crisis, and then have a newly-formed global government (EU, only on a much larger scale) step in to "solve" the problem! Dn. Robert

There is a type of commodities market for carbon credits. The money large companies push into that market is not insignificant. Perhaps their motivation is PR, perhaps their managers buy into the dogma. Their investment seems rather silly to me.
Buy carbon credits and be "carbon neutral", so they consume a constant amount of energy but claim to be environmentally friendly because they instituted a self-imposed carbon tax upon themselves.
I could find a better use for the money, I'm sure.

Have you noticed how cold the weather has been this year?
Here in Los Angeles, we usually experience hot weather in the high 80s and early 90s during the latter part of January through the middle of February. Not this year. It has been very cold. I do not dare to venture out without my coat and a wrap for my head, and this during the middle of the day.

This is the worst winter in our area since the mid 1980's. We have already had several sub 0 days and nights and a good deal of snow. Algore is a good capitalist in the PT Barnum category but not much else.

CDL & EM:
Gotta agree with both of you. We had 2 degrees this morning with wind chill taking it to minus 17 degrees. That's bitter. Our furnace ran almost all night and we've done all the insulation and window & door replacement that our old house can stand. Our forecast is for more of the same for the rest of the week with snow accumulating on the ground. Right now it's just past noon and the temp isn't more than 10 degrees with high winds making it feel much colder.

Anyone read the reports for China recently? Apparently they've had record snow falls and record cold temps. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080204/lf_nm_life/china_weather_dcAaron p.s. I'm sure this will be attributed to GW as well (and I don't mean Bush) :-)

Acutaly that is what global warming is! Tempratures rise causing the glaciers of eastern greenland to melt causing the sea tempratures to lower causing thus a mini ice age to begin descending on the inhabited world. Nothing new but a repeat of metrological history. Put on and extra sweater or think of moving south. Stephanos I

Father Stephanos: Father bless!! Actually I think I'll take the sweater advice. The south has its share of snakes and scorpions and at least they're not active in this are for most of the year. BOB

The nice thing about it being cold here, is the fire ants and pine beetles stay inside It truly has been weird here. One day in the 20s the next day in the 60s. We had a really cold spell, then it went to very warm days. I agree with Fr. Stephanos, it is a cyclical change. Algore is out for $$$$$$$ and popularity, along with control. It doesn't mean that we don't need to take better care of our world. I sure don't seem him doing anything to make a change in his life. That is all it is about, too many in government and power are looking for 'world power'. I don't trust them any further than I could pick them up and throw them.

Yes, I agree with you Pani.
Some of these politicians want to usher in a New World Order or even force a Third World War (starting with Iran) where they can try out their new toys at our expense.

Here's another article that talks about the latest data pointing to diminished solar activity and a possible coming ice age. http://www.dailytech.com/Solar+Acti...Predict+Another+Ice+Age/article10630.htmMaybe the Goracle can revise his charts and get the UN to tax us more if we don't use aerosol cans enough, or maybe I'll be able to buy a fish filet in a styrofoam box again.
