Fr. Pat is great. I've been told Archimandrite Meletios Weber has a good talk on the 12-Step Program and how is correlates with Orthodox theology. Fr. Daniel Byantoro has a moving discussion of his missionary efforts, literally creating the Orthodox Church of Indonesia (and also Malaysia and elsewhere in the region). He's in Malaysia now but speaks extensively in the United States. --------- Western Orthodoxy Blog [ westernorthodox.blogspot.com] Where is he in Malaysia? I would love to meet him. I live in Malaysia at the moment actually. By the way, great blog Ben. Your blog does the Western Rite a lot of justice.

Wow, small world. I'm not certain exactly where he is at the moment; he returned to the area because of a missionary priest's death (which devastated him). Here's his website: www.friendsofindonesia.org [ friendsofindonesia.org] Fr. Daniel is a good speaker on any number of topics, but he's most absorbing when he discusses how he is creating the Indonesian Orthodox Church. Thanks for your kind words about my pathetic site, too. ----------- Western Orthodoxy Blog [westernorthodoxy.blogspot.com]

Well, i think your site is about the only news site concerning the Western Rite... Well, almost... but better than nothing. You've done alot of justice to all the new WR communities, so yeah, you deserve some accolades. Its not much coming from me, but better than nothing.

If you are thinking about sexual ethics and morality then I would recommend either Father Loya as stated before or Christopher West. Their talks would be geared towards Pope John Paul II Theology of the Body. Both men are amazing. Christopher may be from the Western Church but by no means does he negate the Eastern Church by any stretch. I think it would be beneficial for everyone in your parish to hear the message of the why behind the what of chastity and human sexuality as a whole. I hope that helps.

Fr Thomas Loya is a really great speaker. I would also suggest Fr Maximos from Holy Resurection Monastery in Newberry Springs. He is on the forum. I love to hear him preach. You can go to the website and download a talk he gave on the Holy Mysteries that is wonderful. I would put the link but I am computer challenged. Look him up on the forum and get his link.

I would recommend Fr. Christopher Zugger of Our Lady of Perpetual Help BCC in Alburquerque. He is the author of "The Forgotten" a book about the 20th century persecution of both Latin and Eastern Catholics under communism. His book is scholarly (and a bit dry) but as a speaker, Fr. Christopher is warm and inspiring. He has traveled frequently in Eastern Europe and is well informed in the post-Soviet blossoming of the church.
I met him two years ago at the annual pilgrimage at the Shrine of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Olympia, Washington. His talk of the martyrdom of Bl. Theodore Rhomza (unsure of spelling, please forgive) was excellent.
I'm not sure what part of the big state of Texas you are in, but it looks like Fr. Christopher is more or less in your neighborhood.

Collin, I'm a Malaysian living in Denver, and have been attending an Eastern Catholic church here for a bit now. If you have any finds about Fr. Daniel and his work in Malaysia, please let me know. Where are you in Selangor? My hometown is Klang. Wei-Hsien wanweihsien@gmail.com

Thanks all for the advice. I've called a few of the suggested people and hope to put at least some of them on the church events list for this year. Keep sending names of course!

Archpriest Michael Moran if he can travel is really good.
Also, Heirmonk Terry Krycheck (sp), you can find his interview on EWTN's Journey Home.
