I just read an article in The New York Times about charitable donations [nytimes.com]. There was a section on the "warm glow" people get from doing something good, such as making a donation, going to church or spending time volunteering.

While the article is about the psychology of giving, it was interesting, especially in light of discussions elsewhere on this board that have touched on church economics.
