I have been receiving support in getting through this from many people on campus. the rumor is already old news and most people have disregarded it as complete garbage. When someone tried to talk about it yesterday one of my friends went completely ape on them. No one has yet made any accusations to my face and with the negative responses the perpetrators have been receiving in regard to the rumor I doubt they ever will. It seems that they're going to have to go off and find someone new and invent something more "exciting" or crawl off into some dark hole and ponder the meaning of their seemingly meaningless existence of spreading lies. Please pray for them.

College aged or even the under 45 generation, many people have insecurities. Gossip is very unchristian and has destroyed many parishes.
O Lord and Master of my life ...
My prayers.

It seems to me, particularly if you are considering a vocation, that you have an opportunity to witness to these people (if they will listen) about the value of purity and chastity. Because it is your faith that is guiding your actions, shine some light on those in darkness. They see the what...let them know they why.
I know that is easier for me to say sitting in front of my computer that for you who are living it...just a suggestion.

I tend to check my religion at the door when I go out on campus. I used to be very open about being Eastern Catholic, and to some extent I still am but I keep much quieter now. If I talk about my religion it tends to cause tension. Most people only know that I'm not a Lutheran because I make the sign of the cross at meal prayer. You're right about needing to witness but I'm not sure I'm the right one to do that, especially if the results are like what I've experienced. Please continue to pray for me and for those who did this as they are probably in more need of prayer than we think.

A reminder this section is for requesting prayers and to let others know that you are praying for them. All general discussion should be done in Town Hall or via PM.

Reverand father, after I posted what I posted, that very thing came to my mind, so I guess I am prepared to post what I feel needs to be posted. I realize that this area is for prayer, often times, like many others, all I can say is "prayers". I feel that if someone has a word of wisdom, encouragement, advice, or whatever, that within certain parameters, then it should be done here. sometimes, the LORD uses one or another of us to say what needs to be said. if the young man in question had wanted this to be in the form of a PM, then that should be respected. but he did appear to present his need in a more or less public setting, and I, and a few others, responded in such manner. perhaps this prayer section should be developed a bit further to include words of wisdom, or whatever. my humble opinion. Much Love, Jonn

Jonn,
This is not a debatable issue for this section. Repeatedly this has been stated as forum policy. Certain sections of this forum have been so reserved as to take away the concerns of the banter of the general discussion sections, so a section like this is solely dedicated to the primary Christian virtues we are called to do, prayer. There are other sections dedicated to general discussion in which you can share whatever opinion you would so like or offer encouragement as needed, and you also have the private message system which you are encouraged to use.
So this policy will stand in place as a directive from the administrators. Those that can not honor it will force the premature closure of a thread or in some cases were they feel that the rules barring general discussion in this section do not apply to them will have their posts deleted.
I hope that this is clear.

Jonn (and everyone): The Prayer Forum is a place to request prayer and to tell others you are praying for them. Thats it. I do not doubt there are occasions when it is appropriate to offer advice. The Prayer Forum is not the place for that. The giving of advice or encouragement is best accomplished in either a private message or in a thread in the Town Hall Forum. Those who are asking for prayers or who are praying for others need to be free from the distractions of other conversations, as well intended as they may be. Moderators are reminded to be vigilant about deleting all non-prayer content in this forum.

Lord of Powers be with us, for in times of distress we have no other helper but you. God of Powers have mercy on all involved.
