Decide for yourself what to make of this:
Yes, this is a "Catholic" priest under Cardinal George. [youtube.com]

I think he needs to cut back on the coffee, although if you read through the church website, it has a strong history and is a strong presence in the neighborhood.

Yes, I was pretty surprised to see that his parish, Saint Sabina's is a Catholic Church in communion with Rome.

He has a statement here: http://www.saintsabina.org/

Fox showed a video from a Liturgical service, from what I saw it is not in line with the current GIRM...

I feel for Cardinal George, he is in between a rock and hard place...

I think this man lives for the accolades and "rush" of the crowd.

Lord have mercy on him and on poor Cardinal George.

Why "poor Cardinal George"?

That cardinal needs to put a leash on this priest and pull him back.

Ah, Father Michael Pfleger.. while I think he does some strange things and tends to go overboard with hyperbole (boy is that an understatement), what exactly is he saying in the clip that is demonic?
What troubles me more are the liberties he takes within the Mass, if he'd clean that up and follow rubrics, I'd take the fiery sermon!

This guy also defended Farakhan.(Did I spell that right?) That is scary.

Has the Cardinal had any complaints from this?

Fr. Pfleger is the pastor of an African-American parish in Chicago's South, generally poor, neigborhood. I believe he is now the longest-serving pastor of this Catholic parish!

He shot into the limelight years ago when he fought for the inclusion of his all-black athletes into the Catholic athlethic leagues of the City and the State of Illinois, dominated by white students, and won! He takes racism into his heart as deep as his all-Black parishioners.

He has taken up the cudgel for his parish in the fight against poverty and the ills accompanying it like gun violence. Together with Protetant pastors in the area, he led a rally recently at the State building in the heart of Chicago condemning the spate of gun killings of teens and pre-teens in the City, which now number more than 20 since January this year. The rally was attended also by Mayor Daley and Gov. Blagojevich, who are advocates of gun control.

I think Fr. Pfleger rides social (and political) activism the right way!

Until dismissed by Cardinal George and his faith put into question appropriately, it is offensively cynical to reduce Fr. Pfleger's Catholic priesthood by a parenthesis!

I don't have a problem with the priest speaking out against racism.I DO have a problem with him defending Farrakhan and Pastor Wright. If I made a public speech defending my Great-Great Grandfather,James Monroe Harris, who was a slaveowner,I don't think I'd get much of a break.I'm proud of my Russian heritage, but I don't support the current regime in Russia nor did I support the Soviets.I'm proud of my Polish heritage, but I don't support the way some Poles treated Ukrainians and other peoples over whom they ruled.I'm also proud of my Scottish heritage, but not to the point of supporting Celtic Neopaganism.

This priest is well known for being a nutjob, he had Al Sharpton speak at his parish before. He's pretty big on restricting gun rights - makes me proud to be a NRA member.

To his credit though he has put a lot of time into campaigning against drugs, and fighting against immorality in the media (Jerry Springer and Howard Stern).

Fr Pfleger continues to do the things he does, because no Cardinal in the Archdiocese of Chicago has ever taken disciplinary action against him. He has now been at St Sabina's for at least 28 years, while popular traditional priests are not allowed this privilege. Fr Pfleger has even threatened to leave the priesthood and open his own church in the neighborhood if he's ever transferred from St Sabina's.
