Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knew some good resources on St. Paphnutius - present at the Council of Nicaea and known for upholding the rights of married clergy and not imposing mandatory celibacy?

Thanks - XB!!!

Related but unrelated.

Since I guess I'm entering seminary in September, I thought I'd read some on the lives of saints who were married. Well, I hope you have suggestions, because all I could really think of was St. John of Kronstadt -- and then to find out that he never had any conjugal relations with his wife... makes me think you have to be celibate if you really want to be a saint. But of course I don't think this is true, I just want to find a saint who was actually really a married priest! Any suggestions? Obviously, St. Paphnutius is out, too.

I don't remember the saints listed, but at a local Catholic bookstore I glanced at a book devoted to such saints.

The only part of the title I remember was "Modern Saints"; it was a thick book, maybe 400 pages.

Domilsean - Good question, not sure where to look either. I know that there is some written spirituality of married clergy but relatively rare, probably because monastics had the time and scholarly training to write I suppose. I am also quite interested in married Saints if you find out anything please post.

I am particularily interested in St. Paphnutius also because I chose him as my patron Saint - I believe he is the patron Saint of married clergy. I was able to find one icon on the internet of him... Anyone else knows of any please let me know.

Thanks Terry - I am guessing if it had "Modern Saints" it probably wouldn't include it but I'll inquire...
