We have a new slogan for this forum! "As a catechumen who is learning everything by the books, I really feel like it's my position to help those who were raised so ignorantly in the faith learn how to really live an Orthodox life." Amen!

That is a hilarious quote. And that's exactly what many of us cradle Orthodox think the converts are thinking.
We all take each other too seriously and need to laugh at ourselves.

That catechumen is deacon material if anyone ever was! Was it pants on women in 19th century Russia? It was not! Is sergianist new calendarist heresy. Is outrage!

This scenario can also be applied to Eastern Catholic catechumens as well, epsecially when "correct liturgical chants" are discusssed.

Too good, too good. There are enough Cradle Byzantines and Cradle Orthodox to really appreciate that article.

It is wonderful. But not truly believable: No sane man would ever dare to presume to counsel a woman to cover her head in church or wear modest garb in 2008.

No joke.
I know some guys who frequent thrift shops to purchase long skirts and scarves.
Others hire seamstresses to make such feminine items, especially wrap around skirts.
Edited to say:
Of course, most of these guys attend SSPX churches or HOCNA parishes.

But many men are insane. Especially where women are concerned. It is wonderful. But not truly believable: No sane man would ever dare to presume to counsel a woman to cover her head in church or wear modest garb in 2008.

I should have said no sane man would have the courage or perhaps would know it was not worth wasting his breath.

There are several young catechumens and converts at my church. These men really struggle when they see women in tight short skirts and they appreciate that some women in our church do dress modestly and cover their heads. Now more young women are doing so. They just do not want to be the only one in the church covering their legs and hair. Girls are under a lot of peer pressure, and so when two or more young girls start to cover then more can join them.
