Are there separate prayers of exorcism to help those who may have encountered an evil spell, who may be under demonic attack (obsession), or who may in fact be possessed? In the Orthodox Church Book of Needs, I have seen the following prayers: Prayer against the "evil eye"Prayers of Exorcism **(1) Prayer of St. Basil of Caesarea and **(2) Prayer of St. John Chrysostom. Prayers for Illness, which includes a prayer to "rebuke the spirit of illness." Baptismal Service, which includes prayers of exorcism. According to my priest, these prayers are highly effective. In fact, several Orthodox priests have admitted that they include the Baptismal exorcisms whenever they chrismate a person. Therefore, I find it sad that there have been so many articles recently dealing with exorcism in the Catholic Church. Don't Catholics have prayers like the above that can be used to help people? Are the Eastern Churches also seeing a rise in the need for exorcisms? Or is the problem a denial that the devil even exists? http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/new.php?n=12861Rome, Jun 6, 2008 / 11:10 am (CNA).- In an interview with the magazine Maria Mensajera, famous Italian exorcist Father Gabriele Amorth said, Everybody is vulnerable to the work of Satan ....
<snip>
Suppose, for example, that someone you work with is envious of you and casts a spell on you. You would get sick. 90 percent of the cases that I deal with are precisely spells. The rest are due to membership in satanic sects or participation in sances or magic. If you live in harmony with God, it is much more difficult for the devil to possess you, Father Amorth stated.
The Pope supports exorcists, he explained, but satanic sects are proliferating, and for this reason Father Amorth said his calendar for the next two months is full. I work seven days a week, from morning until night, including Christmas Eve and Holy Week, he said.

This is kind of a general prayer that I combined to use for people in these types of struggles or just life in general, which seems to really help.
Dear Lord Jesus, please surround me (family/friends/or the particular person that you are praying for) with a perimeter of Your Love and Protection throughout the day today and everyday a hundred yards in all directions. In the name of Jesus: any negativity, sadness, dispair, any evil spirits that have attached themselves to myself or those about me I command you in the Name of Jesus, spirits of earth, air, fire, or water, the netherworld, or nature depart, now, and go straight to the cross of Jesus Christ for him to deal with.
Lord Jesus, render any demons that are here, or should try to come, deaf, dumb, and blind. Strip them of all weapons, illusions, armor, power, and authority. Disable them from communicating or interacting in any way. Bind, sever, and separate them, sending them directly to the foot of Your Cross without manifestation or harm to be dealt with by you Jesus. May Your Precious Blood cover me, the Holy Spirit fill me, Mary's mantle of love and protection surround me, St. Joseph guide me, the Holy Angels and Saints guard and protect me from all unfortunate events. Protect me from fire, theft, flood, storms, ailments, and accidents of every sort, distress, hardship, curse, and all untoward things. I ask all this in your Name Lord Jesus and I thank and praise you. I love you. Alleluia. Amen!

Hi,
In the Latin Church, a solemn exorcism can be performed only by the bishop or by a priest explicitly authorized by the bishop.
A simple exorcism can be performed by any ordained minister and, under certain circumstances, by laypeople, following the directives from the local ordinary. And yes, in this category, we should include the exorcism that is part of the rite of baptism.
Anyone can pray the Lord's Prayer, which of course, ends with a petition to be delivered from evil, especially from the evil one.
I can hardly see the need for more "weapons", we just need to use them properly.
Shalom, Memo

I thought all baptisms, Catholic and Orthodox included the prayers of exorcism.
I try to remember to pray to Archangel Angel Michael daily in an effort to ward off all attempts of the evil one on myself and others.
Peace, Indigo
