There are many Catholic websites that sell St. Joseph statues for this purpose, and many testimonials to miracles for this intention.

Personally, I feel uncomfortable that people bury his statue upside down. I can understand burying it, I can understand having it face the house, but I cannot understand burying it upside down. It seems disprespectful to me.

So,I am curious...have any of my Catholic (or Orthodox) friends here sold their house through St. Joseph's intercessions?

I've known a few people who believe that burying a St Joseph statue in there yard really helped them sell it. Finding a job is a different story though.

We recently put a bid on a new house. If we get it, I'm going to "plant" a St. Joseph statue in order to sell my house. I'll let you know if it works. smile

p.s. I have a Madonna statue in the backyard, that I'll be taking with me to the new house. smile

It was easier during the Middle Ages when only medals of St. Joseph were "buried" to seek his saintly intercession.

How it came to pass that using his statue instead is "more effective" seems vague to Church historians! And "burying" it upside down led to the invevitable joke that St. Joseph eventually lost his hair as a result thereof! biggrin

At any rate, whether it is supertitious or not, some people avow getting help from St. Joseph in selling their house!

(I think it becomes more efficacious if one recites the Novena to St. Joseph!)

Good luck!

Well, he didn't help us sell a house, but he did help us buy one biggrin
