I used to be afraid of tanks (which I had to keep under control because I worked at an Army base), but I don't seem to care about them anymore. And clowns. Definitely clowns. I saw Bozo reruns and he was scary.

I seem to be getting phobic about flying. I don't know why. I hate it. I used to love it. Somewhere in my late 20s, I started to really loathe it. I am scared of heights, and always have been, so I think that's part of it and it is as someone mentioned earlier - it's seeing down over edges that gives me vertigo. The inside of the UN makes me queasy! Also, I get terrible earaches and lose hearing in pressurized environments - and every night I cringe when my subway train goes under the river because of the popping. It doesn't help that my dad was a tail gunner in a B17 who survived two plane crashes, I suppose.

My husband cannot stand heartbeat sounds and squirms like mad when his BP is taken. That is his only phobia. I find it weird. He almost passes out.

My co-worker is terrified of snakes. Since she has heart trouble, that's a concern. We had one sitting on top of a manhole cover dead a couple summers ago (must have come up from the sewer to die) and we had to pull down all the blinds and call Animal Control. She was freaking out.

Still cannot figure out your riddle about SJ !!!

Alice

The only group I know whose members have "SJ" after their names are the Jesuits.

They used to be the main supporters and purveyors of "liberation theology" throughout Latin America in opposition to oppressive and dictatorial governments in the region during the 70s.

However, I am unsure if this is what North OTB is referring to.

As to the "clowns?" I cannot figure it out!

Yeah you got it - during the 1970's they became clowns (aka. heresies, folk masses, etc., etc.) - it was just a soft poke, I know an entire handful of good Jesuits! Sorry if the riddle was lame, but I didn't want to spoil it...
