Will Eastern Rite Churches also be observing the Year of St. Paul? And is there any place to find out as to what events are planned?

CIX!

I am not sure there will be formal events; we shall see about that. I am sure some have already preached about this year; I did so as part of the homily on the feasts of Sts. Peter and Paul and recommended my community to start this year by reading Romans.

I, too, spoke about the Year of Saint Paul at my homily on the Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul. I emphasized that not only the holy Father but the Ecumenical Patriarch declared it a Year of Saint Paul. I also encouraged my parishioners to read the epistles of Saint Paul. And we will begin a formal study of the book of Romans beginning in January 2009.

Our Melkite Eparch (Australia and New Zealand) asked us to preach and instruct the people during the year concerning Saint Paul's epistles.

St Paul (of Antioch) is especially dear to those churches of the East.

In the Pittsburgh Archeparchy the Office of Religious Education has hosted a series of classes for deacons and catechists who will offer deanery level adult education classes this fall.

The preliminary sessions began in May and will conclude in August.

father michael:

Father bless!!

My spiritual father assigned me the study of the Epistles of St. Paul, especially the passages where he mentions Christian "love" which is so significantly different from whta the word has come to mean in the culture: Christian love being linked in its essence with the Passion of Christ Who laid down His Life for us.

Asking for your continued holy prayers,

BOB

Our Church has been honored by being selected as a "Pilgrimage" Church for the Year of St Paul.
I have commissioned an Icon of St Paul (Rubelev), and we are holding a course on St Paul his life and theolgy, a special Mass for January 25, and hosting his relics.
