Dear Friends,

I sent a hard copy of the Akathist to Pope John Paul II that I have written to His Holiness Pope Benedict and yesterday I received this letter, together with an actually signed glossy photograph of the Pope:

Dear Mr. Roman,

The Holy Father has received your letter with enclosure, and he has asked me to reply in his name.

His Holiness wishes me to assure you and your loved ones of a remembrance in his prayers. He invokes upon you God's abundant blessings of peace and joy.

With every best wish, I am

Yours sincerely,

Monsignor Gabriele Caccia
Assessor

Congratulations. That akathist was well-written. But I have to admit when I saw that heading, I just knew they had finally gotten around to excommunicating you. wink biggrin

Alex,

What's with this "y'all" thing? Guess it's because you're a Southern Canadian? biggrin

God Bless,

Sam, a Texas boy born and raised, but who pines for his adopted home in Alaska!

What great news Alex.

As the saying goes "be careful what you wish for"

Next thing you know you might be asked to sing your Athakist to His Holiness yourself, in a private audience. wink

Better get your singing voice ready. biggrin

Great work my dear friend.

PS. How did His Holiness sign the photo ?

Alex,

I know what you mean. They at least acknowledged that they received your contribution. Maybe they have actually read it. Who knows?

Dear Brad:

P.S. How did His Holiness sign the photo?
Like any other famous person with thousands of adoring fans, His Holiness probably autographs a bundle of his photographs (for distribution or mailing later) while eating breakfast or before retiring for the night? wink

Dear ByzCathDad,

Yes, we Canadians pride ourselves on being a "Confederacy."

Just like the one you had in the South!

And I love N'Awlins - not just "whistlin' Dixie"
there, friend! smile

Dear Brad,

Yes, the signature is in dark ink at the bottom of the glossy photo.

It does smudge . . . smile

In any event, I've no idea if anyone has read the akathist or whatever.

As for my singing voice, if the Pope ever heard it, he would quickly change the meaning of "Vox populi, vox . . .?" smile

That is why I'll never be able to post in the Cantors' Section here!

Not that I care, no, not at all, who cares, eh? wink

I'm just happy to have that photo with the letter.

Is there a St Bradley?

Dear Alex:

If I were you, I'll be on the look-out for the Papal Nuncio to Canada!

Bestowing such a precious gift to the Pope might force him to propose to the Holy See the conferment of knighthood upon you! wink

(Is there a knightly order of akathist writers?)

Dear Amado,

A work of supererogation, in any event . . .

Do such candidates have to go for training to "knight school?"

Congratulations on your signed letter.
Did you ever post that particular akathist here?
Good Job, hoarse whisperer.
