Hello,

I remember reading somewhere a quote that was similar to the following:

"One cannot be a theologian who does not love God, and one who loves God is a theologian."

Can anyone tell me the exact quote and who said it? I'm pretty sure it was a Church Father.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for - it mentions prayer, not love, when referring to a "real" theologian:

"If you are a theologian you will pray truly, and if you pray truly you will be a theologian." (Evagrius Ponticus, On Prayer).

Thanks so much!
