I don't get into it much on the boards, but I have had a lot of back problems for the past 15 years, with the past three years being especially the worst. Wednesday, October 1 I will be having my 12th surgery since November 2005. Some have been more serious than others, including a spinal decompression that left me partially paralyzed and then another where they had to install rods and screws into 12 vertebrae. The surgery tomorrow is simply to move muscles around in my back for support, try to fix some nerve compression problems and then close an incision site from a surgery in December 2007. It has been open all of this time to various degrees and tomorrow we will, I hope, finally close it for good. I've been having infections almost continuously since December 2007 as well, which is not surprising since I've had an open wound the whole time. I've also been on IV antibiotics most of this time as well.

Please do not get me wrong...I am not trying to be dramatic or anything. This is simply the truth and there are people out there who are far worse than me and would trade places with me in a heartbeat. I see them in the hospitals and rehabilitation centers I have been to. But some prayers from my friends on the Byzantine Forum would make me feel much better going into surgery. So thanks in advance.

Tim

Dear Tim,

You have every right to ask prayers from your family on the Byzantine forum...and we bow to your humility and graciousness amid the terrible suffering you have endured.

I pray, with all my heart, that the Lord God, through the intercessions of His most compassionate Mother, our Lady Theotokos, and the saints, such as St. Nektarios and St. John Maximovitch, will be with you and your surgeons in surgery, and will heal you and alleviate any physical suffering.

Amen, amen, amen.

Lord have mercy on our brother Timothy.

In Christ our Hope,
Alice

My prayers for you, Tim, that the Unmercenary Physicians guide the work of your doctors and that you be blessed with an excellent rehabilitation and a swift return to health.

Tim, I thank God you did ask for prayer. It is good to give thanks to God for holy brothers and sisters. By your asking for prayer you allow us to do a work pleasing to God for you.

O Lord our God, Who by a word alone did heal all diseases, Who did cure the kinswoman of Peter, You Who chastise with pity and heal according to Your goodness; Who are able to put aside every sickness and infirmity, do You Yourself, the same Lord, grant aid to Your servant Tim and cure him of every sickness of which he is grieved; and send down upon him Your great mercy, and if it be Your will, give to him health and a complete recovery; for You are the Physician of our souls and bodies, and to You do we send up Glory: to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Both now and forever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Slava Isusu Christu! (Glory Be to Jesus Christ!)
Slava Na Viki! (Glory be Forever!)

Thanks to one and al for all prayers and thoughts. Yes, surgery was Wednesday October 1. Things went well. The surgeon moved some muscles (Latisimus dorsai?) and covered the incision site and then did a skin graft. I had not known a skin graft was so painful, but thankfully that part of it is all over now. The bad news is that the original intention did not work. Muscles were moved and have given me more strength, but the incision site has not remained closed. It is open again. So it's back to a wound vac for me once again. Such is life, it could be much, much worse.

There are some complications but I don't want to make this negative. The surgeons want to work on some more things but first need to conduct tests. I had one scheduled for yesterday but wound up with a simple sore throat and cold, so we had to postpone the test for a few days. I hope to have it tomorrow or more likely Thursday. It is called a CT Mylegram and won't take very long--60 to 90 minutes, approximately. But since it involves puncturing the spinal column to insert die, any sign of an infection and I could wind up with meningitis. So I'll be happy to wait a few days. We did do a regular CATscan last night at 11:30pm. That's the thing about big cities, they don't worry about the hours. Someone is there all the time and the equipment is always there, so why not 11:30pm?

Thanks again!

I'll let you know more when I know more!

Tim

Bless you for all of your prayers, keep them up, please!
