At trapeza on Sunday we were read a letter from
the Congregation for Eastern Churches announcing that Father
Deacon Christopher has been advanced to the rank of Proto-Deacon.

This honor is most richly deserved.Chris has devoted a large
part of his life over many decades to St. Michael's, having
first come there in his High School days. That the parish
has continued to exist and prosper through many adversities
is, I believe, in very large part due to his devotion. Further,
having come to the parish in the days of our founder,
Father Andrew (Rogosh), he serves as a living link to the
traditions of the Russian-Catholic Church.

Mnogaya Lyeta!

Mnogaia Lieta indeed! Being in a nostalgic mood, I may mention that I've known the new Protodeacon for rather more than fifty years - and he is certainly the pillar of Saint Michael's. Thank God for him and his work.

Axios, Axios, Axios

May God grant many years to His faithful servant, the Proto-Deacon Christopher

He is a most charming fellow and we greatly enjoy the (alas, too few) times we are able to make it to NYC and down to Mulberry Street to this charming church and its cozy community. Axios!

Does anyone know when the cheirothesia of the new Protodeacon will be - and where, and what Bishop is doing it? If I'm not already too late, I'll send a congratulatory telegram.

I think Fr. Romanos is still trying to sort all of that out. Having two vacant exarchates does not help in these situations.

Nope, don't know yet. Fr.Roman is bishop-hunting.
