There has been talk of abolishing the Eucharistic Prayers for Children, but this abolition has not been actually pushed through by the Vatican itself, and in any case these Prayers were not part of the Roman Missal until 2002 (prior to 2002, these were published separately). I'm sorry for this mistake. The E.P. for children were indeed published pre-2002 in the "Sacramentaries" / Missal, albeit not as part of the Ordo Missae (unlike the 4 main Eucharistic Prayers).

The news is now out. The Eucharistic Prayers for children have been removed from the 3rd edition of the Missale Romanum of 2002. However, the Eucharistic Prayers themselves are not abolished, and local bishops' conferences still have the authority to include these in local editions of the Missal.
