That seems to hardly cause an eyebrow to be raised anymore. Things surely have changed since my youth.

Honestly I know only a little about the people under the spotlight.
But why is this article seem hostile?
No one even mentioned a word of praise for not allowing this - so called mistake - of unwed daughter getting pregnant to end in an even bigger tragedy of an abortion.
Also no one mentioned how this family stayed supportive (at least from where I am looking) of their daughter.

All I know is that other people's life is not my business, but a communal/political figure (or any other role model) is everyone business as they set an example for others. Although this candidate "trembled" in her daughter's mistakes, she was brave enough to do the right thing.

I agree. Kids make these mistakes and we are not to judge them ourselves but to show love. Once an error is made, whatyou do after the fact is what counts. I think it is wonderful the support the family gave and will continue to give.

I have experienced this in my own family as many around the world have too. Praise God for the love that exists in my family also.
