I thought this may be of some interest: BBC Report [ news.bbc.co.uk] In IC XC, Father Anthony+
Everyone baptized into Christ should pass progressively through all the stages of Christ's own life, for in baptism he receives the power so to progress, and through the commandments he can discover and learn how to accomplish such progression. - Saint Gregory of Sinai

Dear Father,
What a beautiful church! Looking at it I couldn't help but wonder how such a church could exist in a predominantly Moslem country. But then I remembered that Alexandria came into being by Alexander the Great, and had always been a Greek city...that is until Nassar came into power and decided all the foreigners in Egypt should leave. Pennyless of course. I believe that was around 1960.
I feel bad for the Copts, but it seems that our Theotokos looks out for them...as long as they pray I guess. She performs so many miracles there for the Christians.
God's majesty is so great. He always does that which will be within the understanding and acceptance of a culture... never causing dissension of any sort. So by Him having miracles performed by our Theotokos, which the Muslims accept, he accomodates the Christians and brings calm to the area.
Saint George is also accepted and venerated by the Muslims. Well, I do hope the people start praying. One never knows when the situation will get out of hand.

And a nun was killed? On Wednesday, a Muslim man stabbed a nun in protest at the sale of a DVD of the play, staged at the church in 2003. May our most loving Theotokos intercede on behalf of the man and nun, and ask our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for eternal memories, and to find them worthy to enter the gates of His Kingdom come the final judgement. And through her intercession, may we pray for peace within the entire middle east region of the world. Lord have mercy! Amen Michael

Perhaps the issues are more complicated than what some think. I suppose for irony one could ruminate on the fact that since Sadat made peace with Israel, Egypt has trailed only Israel in terms of direct U.S. aid received. The Copts, who continue to suffer out of the limelight of a world essentially indifferent to their plight, are an example to us all. Andrew

Truth is the Copts never had it good from any outsiders, Muslim or Christian. When Byzantium was in power, the Copts were oppressed and considered heretical second-class citizens. In the beginning under Muslims the Copts were treated better - until they began to be treated much worse....

Dear Mexican you said:
"We should throw tones at their mosques here in Mexico."
I say:
I assume you mean 'stones'. Actually that is exactly what they want. They are deliberately goading us. That way if we retaliate the same, they can arouse the Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan. By doing so, they will destroy our peace efforts.
What gets me is those 'idiots' here that want more photo's shown of what was done to the prisoners in Abu Graib, (excuse my mispelling), with total indifference to how many might die because of it, or the 'idiot' in Australia that showed some other photo's that were disturbing to the Muslims.
You know, these things can be brought up privately with the U.S. government, Pentagon or even the U.N. These people do not have to give fuel to the Al Jazeera and 'company' propagandists.

There is photo of the stabbed nun on the BBC web site. I take because they posted the photograph that although she was stabbed she has survived.

Hey just remeber Islam is the a religion of peace. I am so tired of this PC correct garbage there is something extremly wrong with a religion when such a large segment finds ways to commit jihad in the 21st century when their is no religious holy wars going on. Are the Copts having Air Raids on Mosque are the Chaldeans Catholic doing this either?
