Am I the only one who's noticed that it takes an awfully long time to log in or submit posts. I assume it's our servers.

Same here. It's been a problem for quite a while.

I have wondered about that, too. Sometimes I attribute the slowness to Earthlink, my service provider. On their best days, they are slow and overloaded. That makes it difficult to tell where the slowness is coming from.

It is not my isp, every other page (including similar msg boards) load quickly. The search function is also impossible to use.

It stinks here in Raleigh too and it isn't my ISP, it smokes on every other web sight I go to.

Since I don't log out, I don't have that issue. Post submission, however, as Cynthia mentions, is a major hangup - although I've not infrequently opened a second window and found that the post has posted, despite showing as still processing in the initial browser page.

SS, I'm curious about your comment regarding the search engine. I'll admit that it can be frustrating - it doesn't always find stuff that I know is out there, but I don't find it as bad as you seem to have. Can you be a bit more specific as to how it's frustrating your efforts? I'm curious because I've heard similar comments from others a few times.

Many years,

Neil

Well - I also have given up on the search engine - it's frustratingly slow and never ever finds anything I'm looking for .

Maybe I just don't use terms it understands - I dunno - it used to work for me but now ......... frown

Yes, the server has been slow at times! But earlier this evening byzcath.org migrated to a new server, one that is three times as fast and has eight times the memory. And with a new configuration that is said to be more optimal. Hopefully everyone will experience faster service.

Regarding the search engine, it is slated for redesign in one of the future software builds coming in 2009.

Please let us know if the response time is better or worse in the coming days and weeks.

Ever since the change to the new server, everything for me loads and works very fast. Vast improvement!

Thank you, John, the increased speed in loading posts is significant!
