It amazed me today watch ing the morning news and the media all over the family who now has 14 children.

Instead of raising concerns over the use of infertility methods as immoral to the natural way of God. They are saying it was immoral for her not to accept "selective termination". There are media groups hoovering over the family's house and interviewing neighbors who would give statements about how horrible it is for this family to be so large.

I come from a family of 12 and we didn't have much material things, but we had plenty of love and God in our lives.

Prayers and love

Well this situation is kind of wierd. Yes, the woman wanted many children, but she is unmarried, and the father of all her children, including her first six children, is a sperm donor!!!

She chose to have in vitro fertilization to have the anonymous sperm impregnate her. These eight were the left over embryos from her first in vitro procedure, so it is commendable that she brought these lives 'in stasis' to life...but, she lives with her mother and wants her mother to help her with all the children...so, this is a strange and unique situation.

It is kind of wierd how babies are both created for selfishness (sperm donor pregnancies) and also destroyed for selfishness (abortions) in today's sick world.

What ever happened to the concept of the natural family? Don't children deserve to have and know a real living father who is not simply anonymous sperm? Lord have mercy!

Our society is totally weird.
The paradoxes that T. S. Eliot points to in "Choruses from _The Rock_" and _Four Quartets_ are even worse today.
Women who don't have kids have breast implants and use make-up to make themselves look like tehy're pregnant or recently had babbies.
Women who *do* have kids have "mommy make-overs" to make themselves look like maidens.
Women pump thmselves full of birth control pills for 2 or 3 decades to pretend they're post-menopausal, then take hormones after menopause to feel younger.
They do all this stuf to prevent pregnancy until they're "mature enough" or "have enough money," then wait till they're too old, and their reproductive systems are practically killed. THen they spend tens of thousands of dollars on "fertility treatments," IVF or adoption, wasting all that money they allegedly saved by not having kids till they were old enough to be grandparents.
The small family has become such a social obligation that the new way of being "countercultural" is to use IVF to have a *large* family, but stil do it on one's own terms, instead of Gods.

The center cannot hold.

Dear John,

Though alot of what you say is true, overall I find your post quite distasteful.

There are equal amount of statements one can say for men as well.

Let's just say that everything is crazy in today's world--and if you look at the bottom line of all that you have said, I could also say the same about men today (taking Viagra for instance, selling sperm for money, divorcing and discarding middle aged wives for 'better' models which are generally girls half their age, etc.)!!

Again, I say it is because the evil one reigns through our cultural obsession with all things sexual. People are without God and look to the perverse to fulfill them. The reason that many women turn to IVF, for instance, is because the premarital sex which they have had (*with men*--who seem to be the ignored equation of being part of all these disturbing immoral and unethical cultural trends!! wink ) had rendered them infertile because of the silent sexually transmitted disease, HPV. Ofcourse, atleast a decade has passed since this was discovered, but our demonic entertainment industry has decided not to allow this or any other consequences of immoral behaviour ever be known.

Unless we fight the culture through the avenues (media and entertainment) it indoctrinates our society with, nothing will ever be normal and natural again-and the craziness our media has promoted (like total makeovers, etc.) has been exported and is now being mimicked worldwide.

As for me, I think that we are in some part of the end times...and that we cannot go on like this. All this makes the Muslim world look almost enticing.

Kyrie Eleison!

Amen !

The missing link is the failure to demonstrate the means and desirability of self-control through spiritual living. We have prayer and almsgiving discussed enough, but hardly anything is said about the sacred application of fasting.

Alice,

This may very well be the reason why Islam is now the fastest-growing religion in the world. cry

It is also worthwhile to point out that Muslim apologists often point to these same facts as proof that Christianity is a false religion! shocked
