Joy of All Who Sorrow Cathedral

I spent 10 years in San Francisco and my high school was only three blocks away from the home of one of America's only Saints - St. John Maximovitch. This cathedral, in my opinion is a model in how Orthodox churches should look in many respects. Notice there are no pews. This church is Russian Orthodox.

I hope you enjoy.

Beautiful interior. The outside reminds me of St Alexander Nevsky in Pittsburgh. Uh, lemme find it. Here.

Not only are Saint John's relics in the Cathedral; it was his Cathedral - both because he was the local bishop there at the time of his repose, and because he managed to draw what had been a severely divided community together and accomplish the construction of this wonderful church edifice.
