I am so far beyond angry right now I can hardly see straight.
I've just learned that yet another constellation of lives is being destroyed by cancer in a young man, that he may never hold his unborn child.
I've seen so much death from this beast Cancer that I see nothing but rage right now. I know I'm supposed to pray for my friend, for his wife and baby; I know I'm supposed to extend a hand of help.
But I also know all too well that there is no "mercy" in this, that cancer is NOT part of God's plan, that we were created for love and glory, not for agony and death. I know all the teachings of my faith, all the platitudes of comfort.
Pray for me, my brothers and sisters, that I can still my anger, find my way to grace, and pray for my friends.

Prayers for my dear sister and friend, Alicia, that she be at peace, despite the situation that so understandably distresses her beyond imagination.
Holy Theotokos, comfort her and give her the fortitude that she requires to offer love, kindness, help, and prayer to her friends, and continue to be the loving and strong mother that her boys so need her to be.
"One day all our ethnic traits ... will have disappeared. Time itself is seeing to this. And so we can not think of our communities as ethnic parishes, ... unless we wish to assure the death of our community."
