Please keep the handmaiden of God, my sister, Margret, in your prayers. Please also keep her son, my nephew, Steven, in your prayers.

Marge is a single mom and one of the working poor. She is also the primary caregiver for Steven, who is 20 years old and who has extreme cerebral palsy.

Please pray for mercy, peace, a good group home for Steven, and for all of their needs to be provided.

Thank you.

-- John

P.S. To illustrate what Marge is going through and why she needs prayers, here is an excerpt from an email that she sent which outlined her morning today:

Quote
My day so far...

5:50... time to get up

6:10 Time to get Steve up. Alternately argue with and wash/dress Steve.

6:30 Steve has breakfast while I prepare his lunch, wheelchair, walker, backpack, and supplements

6:50 Steve takes bus to school

6:55 I started on my major tasks -- top of the list was massive trash removal. Mary [another sister] and I swapped vehicles so I could use her truck.

7:40 Just got the truck loaded and managed to have * 1* - ONE - swallow of coffee when the phone rang. It was his [Steven's] teacher. He was vomiting. Again. I told her I would be there in an hour since I needed to get my car first.

8:30 Left the dump site

8:50 Swapped vehicles with Mary at her office

9:10 Picked up Steve. Explained to staff that since he hasn't walked in 2 weeks [because he was in the hospital with a g/i infection and fever], getting him on his feet is probably what made him throw up. Take Steve home; he tells me he has dirty pants.

9:45 finish cleaning him up and remedicating his skin.

10:00 Have *2nd* - SECOND - SIP OF COFFEE while waiting for toast to pop up - BREAKFAST - Steve calls and says he has to poop.

10:20 Steve is cleaned up with a freshly remedicated butt.

10:24 Just had my third sip of coffee and a bite of toast.

My plan for today was to go to the Welfare office, Kelly Services in person, and Medicaid. Since Steve is with me, I'll start with Medicaid and hope for the best with Welfare. Kelly's will have to wait until tomorrow.

Keep praying. I would love for him to be part of the group home that is on this ranch near Greeley. It's called the Triangle Cross Ranch. I have an appointment for a week from Sat. to meet with them. Mary and I will drive up with Steve. I would dearly love for this one to work out.

And this was a *good* day . . .

Thank you for your prayers.

Oh dear John...

My humble and unworthy prayers to our merciful and good Lord for your sister, Margaret and her son--your nephew--Steve.

May all things work out for her, may God bless her and keep her strong, and bring some relief and precious relaxation into her life after twenty years of her extreme ministry to her son.

In my eyes, parents, and especially mothers like Margaret, are saints who will have a special place in Heaven.

Kyrie Eleison!

In Christ our Lord and our Hope for all things,
Alice

Saints indeed, Alice. May the Lord also grant Margret the patience she must very much need as well. My prayers that a home is found for Stephen.

Caring for Stephen is indeed a full time occupation .

My prayers that Margaret's life will be eased soon.

Prayers also for Stephen that a comfortable home will be found for him - where he will feel comfortable and be stimulated to do everything he can.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on Margaret and Stephen. Jesus your mercy is great, but sometimes our humanness just overwhelms us, come Lord Jesus surround her in the power of your Holy Spirit and let her know and refresh her with the power of your divine love, giving her your rest. Move quickly to get Stephen in this home, that he may receive the help he needs, as well as she will be able to rest and provide. Make is so Jesus, give her the desires of her heart Jesus. Through the prayers of the Most Holy Theotokos and all your saints. Amen.

Prayers for Margaret and for her son, Steven, and for all the parents and both young and adult children who are faced with similar circumstances, that they be strengthened in love for one another, that the burdens God allows be bearable, and that they be afforded the respite so necessary to continuing with love and charity
