Slava IC XC!

As a journalism student we are constantly being told that the face of journalism is changing and that blogging is becoming more and more popular. Yesterday, I decided to start my own blog called http://blogoftheeast.blogspot.com/

I started it in order to document my Great Week but I think I am planning to continue it after that and offer the point of view of a Byzantine Catholic college student at a secular university. I offer my humble commentaries on the readings and themes for the week and later on, once I can finally leave school, I will be posting pictures and (hopefully!) videos of the Great Week services at Annunciation Parish in Homer Glen, Illinois.

Great Week is my favorite week of the year so I just wanted to share my passion for it with everyone.

Greetings!

I've heard you on the radio. You are on the Annunciation Byzantine Catholic website right? Welcome to the forum!

Yes, we're on the website. I've been around the forum for a few years but have been really busy with my studies at college to post too often. Hopefully, that will change soon!

Unfortunately, I forgot a key cord to download my pics so I couldn't do it on a day to day basis. I spent a good part of the morning today uploading pictures and typing what I kept a journal of over the weekend. So far, I am up to Royal Hours on Friday. Hope you enjoy!

Did Annunciation add more pews or move them up front ? Could just be my imagination, but it didn't seem like that when I was there 4 years ago.

Great blog !

We have rearranged our pews a couple of times. A couple of the pics are from two years ago and some are from this year so that could explain the difference.

Nice blog, Katie,

An interesting perspective on how a parish actually works.

Katie,

Very nice!

Two Lungs,

Can you please explain your picture? I've been to Iraq and the environment sort of looks the same. Thanks

The location is not a war zone, although you are not the first person to note the architectural similarity.

The location is in the United States.

The hierarch in the photo is Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I.

The photo shows Bartholomew I visiting New Orleans' 9th Ward, about six months after Hurricane Katrina.

The occasion was the Patriarch's pastoral visit to Holy Trinity Cathedral, New Orleans, the first Greek Orthodox parish in the United States.

I hate to shamelessly plug my own blog, but I FINALLY got it updated through Easter Sunday. Just in time for the "real" Pascha according to my friends on the old calendar wink

Katie,

Just because your friends are behind the times doesn't mean you can't enjoy two Bright Weeks! laugh
