Having received the official "Call letter" of my Bishop, I am to present myself on June 6th, 2009 at St. Patrick Cathedral in Harrisburg at 10:00 a.m. to receive priestly ordination from Bishop Rhoades.

My First Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving will take place at my home parish, Divine Redeemer Church, Mount Carmel PA at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 7th.

Until then, I ask your prayers for my own preparedness, my family's nerves, and my future parishioners. If any of you are around those locations on those days, feel free to attend!

In Christ,
Deacon Jonathan Sawicki

Deo Gratias!

I hope that, if you haven't already, you will acquaint yourself with both Forms of the Roman Rite!

Axios! Axios! Axios!

May God grant many years in His priestly service to our friend and brother, Deacon Jon.

Christos Voskrese! (Christ is Risen!)
Voisinu Voskrese! (Indeed He is Risen!)

Axio! Congratulations. Thank you so much for choosing this path in life. We need more men and women who feel the way you do. If only society would stop thinking that the priesthood is "a waste of a good young man" and realize how important people such as yourself are to society, regardless of one's religion or even non-religion. What you have done is a wonderful think and I am humbled by your willingness to commit to this path. Thank you once again.

Tim
ps--remember your friends on the Byzantine Forum and try to educate the Roman Catholic parishioners you will be serving about us and our Rite. We have so much in common and can teach each other so much, let alone help each other so much.
