Please pray for my son, Russell.

He's a brilliant young man of 17 with a near genius-level IQ but, once he moved in with me after his mom and I divorced, he started hanging out with the "wrong crowd" (i.e., kids with no motivation who laugh off their failing grades and may be doing drugs as well).

He's nearing the end of his junior year in high school and right now he has a "D" average despite being in advanced-placement / honors classes. Next year he'll have to drop back to regular classes because of his poor grades and he's told me he hates school and doesn't want to go to college.

Thank you in advance for praying for Russell. I love him so very much!

Oh the rebellions of teens, and the trials they bring to the spiritual lives of their parents.

We join you, dear fellow poster in Christ, in prayer for your son, Russell.

May the Blessed Virgin Mother of God hear our prayers for him, scatter the demons of evil, and bring sense to his mind and to his life and outlook on his future.

Please oh Lord do not let this young man come into any harm of mind and body and rebuke the spirit of rebellion which is destroying him. Help him and all troubled young people--especially those whose parents honour You.

May the Lord also grant you much patience and perseverence in prayer for him.

In the risen Christ,
Alice

Prayers

Children often want to do the exact opposite of what their parents would like them to do/be .

Many of them later come round smile

Continued prayers for Russell.

May the Archangel Michael protect him from all harm, evil and danger.

May our blessed Virgin Mary comfort you...

and know that you are not alone.

It will get better.

Alice

Lord of the Powers be with us, for in times of distress we have no other help but You.
Lord of the Powers, have mercy on Russell.
Almighty God, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, come to his help and deliver him from this difficulty that besets him.

Thank you so much and may God bless every one of you. I am back to plead for your continued prayers for Russell. He has an 'F' in History and will be having to make this up in summer school since he has only three days left in the spring semester.

He assures me that he wants to go to DL each Saturday, but when the time rolls around to get dressed and leave, he makes one excuse or another why he "can't" go.

I feel like I'm losing my firstborn son. Before his mom and I divorced, he was always so clean-cut and respectful. Now he wears droopy jeans and a black "wife-beater" and last week came home with a tatoo.

Thank you all again for your prayers for Russell. Please also say a little prayer for his Dad if you would as well. Worrying about Russell and thinking about how I've failed my family after my divorce has gotten me so despondent nowadays I wish I could die sometimes.

In Our Lord, God and Savior, Jesus Christ...

S

Lord of the Powers, have mercy on Byzantinemo and Russell. Jesus bring about a sweet embrace with you in the middle, for they both need a huge hug Jesus. Through the prayers of the Most Holy Theotokos and St. Joseph, place things in the order of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Dear S,

Please know that it WILL get better...it will take a long time though, so I pray to the Lord that you will have patience, and that you will forgive yourself...It is NOT your fault! This kind of thing happens even with kids whose parents are together, so do not blame yourself. Elder Porphyrios, a modern day saint who lived in Athens and was spiritual father to many lay people, said to a mother whose teen was acting up in a similar way: 'Do not react'... I know it is hard when you see your child hurting themselves, but it is good advice.

So, prayers, prayers, and more prayers to Almighty God on behalf of Russell and you. May the Lord bless you in this great trial and grant you strength and courage.

In Christ,
Alice
