I had to go all Easter and lent to another parich then mine because i changed houses this year. I used to go every weekend to mass at my parish but this time lent and easter i had to find a nearer Church. I was surprised they were very nice up there, the presit asked me my name because he noticed i am new and it is very weird because there were a lot of new people and i thought he just likes to do that but he did say my name at communion and i was happy about it. Then some girls in the church asked me if i would like to help fixing the decoration flower for the Church for friday and eatser sunday! it was really nice... I wished all Churches were that welcoming... It encouraged me a lot to want to go there and serve more!

I thought it would be nice to share howsmall things and a nice attitude could really touch the hearts more then anything... best way to evangelize!

Lather,

Very interesting that you'd raise this - especially in view of how it affected you in 'the Old Country' as those in the diaspora often refer to the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and other countries in which our Churches originate.

In fact, we often tend to think that this (the effects of being either genuinely welcomed or not in a strange parish) is only a concern in the Americas, Australia, and Western Europe. We just recently discussed this in another thread, I'll see if I can find it to post a link - it's always a tpic of both interest and concern.

Many years,

Neil

M.Neil,
It may not be a general intrest here or something that is noticed the welcome thing because honestly no one ever welcomes anyone... it was a surprise to me to be welcome... and that is why it had am impact and made me think that it is something that we have to start practicing...

It was the Divine Liturgy that hooked me.

It was a great priest and the friendly parish that hooked my wife.
