Okay, folks, I thought it was a time for a little increase in board activity. wink

Since everyone alive likes to talk about themselves, and since it has been a few years (and many new members) since I last initiated such a thread, I thought it was time again!

Very few of you go by first names, so tell us what your moniker means, and why you chose it. Looking forward to hearing from you! smile

Athanasius the L, for Athanasius the Lesser, since St. Athanasius the Great is my patron saint.

He was perhaps the only Apostle who went outside the Roman Empire to preach the Gospel. He also crossed the largest area, which includes Persia and India.

Thomas is the apostle that I can readily identify with, like Thomas I sometimes have doubts. Those doubts are always dispelled when I see Jesus in the Holy Eucharist when I also exclaim "My Lord, and my God!" Adonai elohim!

Carson=My dad liked the cowboy.
Daniel=In the lions' den, my great grandfather's name, and my father's middle name.
Lauffer=German for walker

I used to use Athanasius but someone got confused. St. Athanasius is my patron. Some United Methodist friends started calling me that when I filed heresy charges against my last UM bishop.

Well to understand mine you'd have to know the history of my name on this Forum, or have me explain in a bit more detail. So here's the detail...

First off, I was ChristTeen287, but after a while I came to dislike the generic nature of that name (plus, some people probably thought my name was Christine! LOL). I was Teen of the Incarnate Logos for a minute, but that was too long-winded, so I shortened it to Logos - Teen soon thereafter. After being 20 years old for a while, I figured the "Teen" part wasn't really useful anymore. I wanted to create a name with the name of my patron saint, Alexis the Man-of-God, in it, but I also wanted a clear connection with more former screen name in case anyone got confused and thought I was a new poster. So I dropped the "Teen" and added "Alexis."

Alexis

theophan: from the two Greek roots--"he who shows forth God"

Forgive me for any presumption in choosing this name. It seems to me that that is what we ought to be doing as Christians. I am also particularly interesested in St. Theophan the Recluse, a Russian bishop saint.

When I first 'met' you on this forum, everytime I saw your moniker, my mind immediately thought 'the recluse'. I know that you are not a recluse, ofcourse!

Now, I just think: it's Bob! wink

Your moniker/ name suits you.

Ofcourse, you could also be 'Theofilos': friend of God!
