Einar You can't, it is part of the software profile that is not optional. In IC XC, Father Anthony+ Administrator
Everyone baptized into Christ should pass progressively through all the stages of Christ's own life, for in baptism he receives the power so to progress, and through the commandments he can discover and learn how to accomplish such progression. - Saint Gregory of Sinai

Dear Einar, On the top of the page, where it says 'Welcome xxx. [Log out]', you will see your smiley face with a little arrow pointing downwards next to it. Click on the arrow and it will present a page where you can click on a different face 'mood'... Choose the one you are feeling and then click on 'update my mood' and the face will change. As Father Anthony said, it can't ever disappear, but you can change it to suit your mood! Sincerely, Alice

This is truely tragic, but I have to wonder if this jas signifigance today beyond the need to make restitution agaisnt htose who where victimised.
I mean not to trivialise the events, but the 1930's where not the same as today, and it woudl be a mistake not to include thoughts about th eprevialign culture of the time. Its easy for the Seular Media to blame this on the CHurhc soley, but what was America like in the 1930's? Didn't we have sweatshops in which labourers where paid next to nothing? And many of htose seemed to hire Children who today woudl be deemed underaged, and work them to death, literally.
And lets not foget the Secular, state run orphanages, and reformatory schools...
This is less a problem with the Churh and mroe a relic of the age in which the events occured.

Yes, that's true, but we should be able to point to a world in which children were saved from the harsh realities of secular society by the loving arms of the Christians who stepped up to protect them and give them a better life. We should hear stories of how they had to work hard and life was not easy, but they came to know the love of Christ shining through the Sisters and Brothers who cared for them. Honestly, this story has shaken me deeply, much more so than the stories of relatively isolated sexual abuse in America.

The Church of all places is where people should feel safe especially children. We are not talking about a secular institution here nor can or should the Church be compared to one. Satan is having a field day. It matters not to me that these events occurred in 1930. What does that have to do with anything? That these facts have been covered up by church officials just blows my mind !! How many more scandals are going to be uncovered? How many people have lost their faith because of this? This is outrageous !! In Christ: Einar

There can never be any excuse for the abuse of children. As Christians and Catholics we need to ask forgiveness and do penance for this outrage, trusting in God's grace and mercy.
Perhaps all of us on this forum could say some prayers for the victims of this terrible scandal?

Content deleted per poster's request Bob: I have to disagree with you. I am sorry if you feel like the church is being singled out. The bottom line it should be, must be different than the secular institutions around it. Yes I believe it has a higher standard to live up to. In Christ: Einar

Dear Einar,
We are living in the end times (or so it seems to me) and the demons are running wild attacking Christians in so many ways: personally, through the weaknesses of others, through the family, the Church, the schools, etc....
Everyday now I see one or two stories of a family member killing their spouse and/or children. Some of these have even been committed Christians. What can one say? These are evil, evil, times, and Satan is oppressing and possessing many.
I understand your outrage. I get SICK when I think of innocents being hurt in any way by adults, because they are so trusting, so vulnerable and needy of adults. I used to get faint when I read about children being molested, kidnapped, sexually abused, physically abused, killed, etc...I still get sick, but these stories are not going away (unless I lock myself up in the house without computer, television, magazines, newspapers, radios)...so I am trying to get a thicker skin. Demons are working overtime everywhere and through so many...
I can't often help but wonder if society's sexual sins collectively bring such horror upon the most innocent. I am sure they do. Child pornography is apparently now rampant and easily accessible. How many more children will suffer because of this GREAT AND DISORDERED AND DISGUSTING evil?!?! I am afraid that all will get worse.....
I think that the punishment should be extreme (life sentence without parole) for any child offender. I think that we should put censorship on the internet. I think we need to start making children an absolute priority. Will that stop the demons? Probably not, but it might atleast not give them the 'gateway' to entering the minds of weak men.
Pray for those who are possessed by these demons. Pray for their victims. Pray for our world.
May our Lord have mercy on us!
Alice

Let us not despair in the face of evil, even when we find evil present within the Church. Let us trust in the Lord and offer prayers for all those involved, especially the innocent victims of this terrible scandal [ independent.co.uk].

Agreed! Lets not lose faith! First, lets allow this story to run it self out alittle more. Lets see if there are any new facts that come out and make the final analysis when both sides of this story have truly been heard.

The Archbishop of Dublin, the Most Reverend Diarmuid Martin, has warned that this would "shock us all." [ irishtimes.com] In other words, this is not something which can be swept under the carpet or conveniently explained away. We do not lose faith, but we accept that the only real response to a scandal like this is prayer and penance.

Hi Alice:
I think what ought to be done is that those orders that were involved in this should be shut down and disbanded.
