I grew up with never less than 3 pairs of shoes, plus 2 pair of boots.
Gym shoes (required for school)
daily wear shoes
dress shoes
Rain boots
Snow boots

Most of my friends also had the same mix, and often also a pair of hip waders.

Someone is about to dislike me (which will be a new experience for me), since I'm known to wear - occasionally - brown cords, black belt, black socks and black shoes, all under an anterion (podriasnyk)! I've never been much of a fashion plate.

The cassock (anterion, podriasnyk) covers a multitude of sins! smile

ebed .... (on the lighter side here) .... don't feel badly about your brown/black combination .... right now when I run out of the house to run an errand, I've got on one purple sandal and one green sandal! Why? you may ask? Well, they both have mates, but I can't find either one, and these are two exact pairs!
((oh my .... pretty sad ....))

Abby, Abby, Abby, my dear sister, you must get those shoes organized!! wink

Since they were two exact pairs, one might think that you were making a new fashion statement!

Umm- oh indeed it does biggrin

Seminarians in Rome acting as guides for the various pilgrimage groups - are always wearing their College Soutanes and cinctures - but believe me under them are often long bare legs and football shorts biggrin

Not being in the habit of personally inspecting what people are wearing beneath their outer garments, I wouldn't claim to know about seminarians in Rome acting as guides for the various pilgrimage groups . . . but if this report is correct, the seminarians have my sympathy: Rome in the summer can be unbearably hot, and a black cassock would increase the discomfort to the wearer.

Fr. Serge,

I think your combo is a tricky one to deal with. If you wear brown pants, sometimes brown shoes are a different color and clash. I think, IMHO, if your belt and shoes match, it is OK to wear black shoes with brown pants. But if you wear something over it then it doesn't matter anyway!

When the Admins open the new Fashion Forum (it's slated for next month, to coincide with the simultaneous Clerical Beachwear showings in Constantinople, Rome, Moscow, and Antioch), Fr Serge and Katie will be co-modding it biggrin

We're hoping Abby will personally handle the Footwear Sub-forum
