I messed up on one of the responses, sorry. It was the one about which OS I use on my computers. I have two desktops and one laptop. The laptop is partitioned to have both Mac OS 10.5 and Vista and I go back and forth. But right now the Vista partition is not working for some reason. I need to get inside the programming and find out what is wrong.

Tim

Tim,

I suggest you start another thread in this section regarding the issue with VISTA on your MacBook Pro. Let us know if you are using BootCamp, Parallels, or VMware to run VISTA, and what version of those programs you are using. Also let us know if it is a problem in the boot up of VISTA or in the stability of the applications.

I am sure after we have all the information, some of our Mac users that run either Parallels, VMware, or BootCamp can offer some advice to get things right.

My version of Parallels Desktop works with Windows 98 and XP, but does not support Vista. I was not going to load Vista on my Mac in any case, so it made no difference.

I don't use Macs, but am staying with XP and ignoring VISTA until Windows 7 comes out later in the year. Then it will be time to buy a new computer to go with it.

Stuart,

I have the latest update installed to Parallels 4 which was released a little over a week ago, and it not only supports VISTA but also now Windows 7. I guess they are basing the Windows 7 part of the update on the current Beta release. I upgraded to Version 4 last year when it came out and even then, it supported VISTA. Not that it matters, but I am still running XP Home on the Parallels Desktop, since I never found anyone that had much to say or read anything that would make me want to upgrade to VISTA.

Ah! I'm using Parallels 3.0, and am very happy with it. I mainly use Windows for proprietary applications my clients use, and they (thankfully) have not yet upgraded to Vista (I think they may go straight to Windows 7, instead). Working in Windows XP, the Mac is much faster and more stable than the Dell I use in at Johns Hopkins.
