John C. Hathaway Member J Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 91 Columbia, SC	I've been watching medieval history videos on UnitedStreaming, and I was wondering: since the Hagia Sophia fell to the Muslims, what has been the parish church, as it were, for the Patriarch of Constantinople?

Michael_Thoma Member Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 2,690 Likes: 8 Chicago	There is a relic of the True Cross, St. Gregory the Theologian, and St. John Chrysostom. There is also a beautiful golden dove hanging from the center above the Royal Doors, which is also a tabernacle for the Precious Body.

Pavel Ivanovich Member Joined: Jul 2003 Posts: 2,885 Western Australia	Interesting people assume St George as a "parish church" given St Anne's which is very popular for weddings is often described as the the parish church of Vatican City and located just inside one of the gateways into Vatican territory. Is St George the acting Cathedral of the Patriarchate given the real one was made into a mosque and is now a museum.
