I have to admit I shuddered when I saw that ummmmm particular bit of artwork . I am like the others and feel it has no place there.

However I have to say that I'm sure there will be others - paintings perhaps ? , in older buildings in the future.

Does the name Peter Howson ring any bells ?

http://www.peterhowson.net/

IIRC he has been comissioned to produce some work to enhance the RC Cathedral here in Glasgow during it's latest upgradng .

I'm an art dealer and have sold some tough pieces in my day but even I think this is extremely inappropriate for an object of religious devotion.

My guess is he based it on postmortem photos of the Blessed Restituta.

What to do...

It is all part of our current crisis in religious art.
