Orthodox Wiki notes the double as being the norm for greek use; it is in the Russian use that it is a reward, and the single is normative.

The Pittsburgh Metropolia is in a Graecophilia phase...

This was in use in the Metropolia even when we had no deacons and priests vested as deacons for hierarchal Liturgies.

Those pictures were wonderful! The marble is gorgeous. I would love to visit the Church sometime. I read about it and it is most impressive.
