At the Holy Father's age, anything is serious.

The Lord preserve him, and give him life, and make him blessed upon the earth, and deliver him not to the will of his enemies!

Amen. Prayers for his recovery. His countenance is so sweet, humble and loving.

CNA [catholicnewsagency.com] reported that the Holy Father ate breakfast and celebrated Mass before going to the hospital. He then waited his turn in line for x-rays and then underwent a 20 minute surgery under local anesthetic to realign the fracture. He will be in a cast for about a month.

I was moved by the fact that he waited his turn for x-rays, to me that speaks volumes.

So was I. Clearly the Holy Father was sending a message that in Socialized health care system, everyone is equal and each patient is treated based on their immediate needs and with equal care. I'm sure there are some BF posters who would state "see !! he had to wait in line because of the socialized health care system".

Sometimes, Jean Francois, you are an absolute, um, marvel. You utterly missed the point. The Pope waited his turn because, as Servum Servrum Dei, he understands that he who would be the master of all must first become the servant of all, and he who would be first must go last. It's a Christian thing, not a socialized medicine thing. You wouldn't understand.

Your resistance to evidence is truly remarkable, and transcends your ignorance of environmental science into another field of which you seem to know little. Some day, I really do hope you have the opportunity to put your money where your mouth is. Like, say, when you are in your seventies and break your hip, and the government tells you that you can't have your hip replaced because the cost benefit analysis in your case came up negative. Or you have cancer that can be treated by a new medication, which, unfortunately, the government decided you can't have, because it costs three times as much as the old (and ineffective) medication that some bureaucrat decided is all you really deserve, given your age, condition and prognosis.

No, in retrospect, I don't wish that upon you, because it would also mean wishing it upon myself, my family, my friends, and everybody who posts here. We all deserve better.
