You do realize that Ayn Rand's objectivism is about as far from conservatism as Karl Marx's communism? Both are artificial, utopian intellectual constructs; each is the mirror image of the other. True conservatism is based on the organic nature of society and community, the bonds of family and faith, and the slow development of social customs which are to be respected and not unduly disrupted. John Galt's fetishization of autonomy and private property are just as unrealistic and distorted as Marx's fetishization of the communal ownership of the means of production and the dictatorship of the proletariat.

If you think that those who hold conservative values should strike to show their displeasure with the current direction of government policy, that is all well and good. But you should choose an appropriate symbol for this act. Ayn Rand was not a conservative, and her philosophy cannot be made conservative, no matter how it is dressed.
