Are there any Eastern Churches in communion with Rome that liturgically use the Julian Calendar?

Should not the Ruthenian Catholic Church, traditionally, be on the old style calendar?

Thanks

The Ukrainian Catholic Church, the biggest Eastern Catholic church, uses it in the Ukraine.

Yes. In America it changed in the 1950s as part of the diocese's assimilation policy at the time.

Also, are there any good books on the religious history of the Old Calendar?

The Ukrainian Catholic Church in Canada still uses the Julian calendar , however there are also parishes that have adopted the Gregorian calendar. Surpringly the parish I attend while initially and generally runs on the "new Calendar" has made concessions to newcomers/new immigrants and as well as those of us that are born in Canada/North America and does provide services on the Julian calendar. Of the 3 locations where liturgy is located on church grounds one exclusively observes the Julian calendar. It is rather a unique situation catering to both young and old , english and ukrainian speaking parishioners under one roof.

There are Ukrainian Greek-Catholic parishes in the USA who adhere to the Julian Calendar, particularly in larger centers of Ukrainian settlement. The best known such parish is Saints Volodymyr and Ol'ha, Chicago.

I bought one book from the Center for Traditionalist Orthodox Studies titled "A Scientific Examination of the Orthodox Church Calendar" which is somewhat of a polemic but still good information if one can sift through the combative tone of the writing. Anyone have an opinion of this book or know of another?

I know that book well - and it's quite good.

The UGCC in the UK and, I believe, the rest of Europe , is on the Julian Calendar as well.

My Russian Catholic parish does. I don't know about the other Russian Catholic Churches. (We also use the same scripture readings as the Orthodox, at least as goarch, while apparently other Byz CCs use something else. I discovered this last weekend when RCs had Loaves and Fishes and so did other Byz here, but my parish had the man born blind.)

St. George's UGCC parish in lower Manhattan, NYC (staffed by Basilian monastics), is on the Julian Calendar.

I believe but am not absolutely sure that Our Lady of Fatima does in San Francisco.

Mlouise:

Doesn't Fatima use the New Style calendar for major feast days? I seem to recall assisting at a Nativity liturgy there on December 25th.

Of course, there's also that rare day when the priest discovers, to his horror, that he's read next week's Gospel . . .

hawk, denying that he's ever had to reassure a priest after this happened
