Thank you! Tinos is beautiful, and the Faith of the pilgrims who come there is even more beautiful. So is the history of the miraculous Icon and the Nun Pelagia - who seems to have descended from an Italian family.

A significant proportion of the islanders are Roman Catholic, of Italian descent. The Nun Pelagia's family name was Negroponte, and her baptismal name was Lucia - with the result that one finds Orthodox icons of Saint Lucia on Tinos. The Catholic pilgrimage to Tinos has been going for over three hundred years. All of this gives us good reason to pray that Tinos and the miraculous Icon may yet be of considerable importance in the healing of the schism.

Most Holy Theotokos, save us!
