Incognitus et al,

As promised here is what going on presently. Of course, please keep in mind that this is from the website under Bishop Basil's control. Moscow as of yet has not put anything up. I am sure that will be done within a day or so.

Commision of Enquiry [dioceseinfo.org]

Also there is an interesting article on the same website that was written by the administrator/moderator of Monachos.net. Here is the link to that article.

Well I am not -too- blind

I have been looking for this thread for a couple of days.

Thank you so much, Father, for all that you've done to keep information up to date for us.

Does anyone know if Archbishop Mark is a "cradle Orthodox" or a convert? If he is a convert to Orthodoxy, that could well explain his appointment to the commission.

Dear Incognitus,

According to his biography, Archbishop Mark of Berlin is a convert to the Orthodox Church.

Archbishop Mark, a convert from Lutheranism, was appointed specifically because he is a convert and thus would have a better undertsnding of the difficulties associated with the Sorouzh Diocese.

This is curiousity not a challenge. Do you have direct personal knowledge of the events unfolding in the diocese of Sorouzh?

Do I have information piped directly to me? No. I have been following the situation thru Father Andrew's Orthodox England website, http://www.orthodoxengland.btinternet.co.uk/hp.htm

In order to save some a lot of time hunting on that website, which I was just recently on the links specific are: Article [orthodoxengland.btinternet.co.uk] & Article Part 2 [orthodoxengland.btinternet.co.uk]

I am offering these without commentary.

It occurs to me now that I have seen you participating on Orthodox lists. You are ROCOR? I will say that your participation here is rather restrained. I hope you do not feel too affronted here, now and then. It would be inadvertent in any event.

Yes, I am ROCOR. Affronted? Here? I have to say that this is by far the most civil and polite group I have ever been associated with. Even those who are diametrically opposed to my beliefs are respectful towards them. I have learned much here. Believe it or not, there are moderate voices in ROCOR, and we have come to the forefront since HTM descended into schism. Much of the hatred that at one time was exhibited in English language ROCOR publications, can be attributed to the influence of the Brookline crowd.

That Orthodox Priest in UK is very clear where he stands in his diocese. His site is very informative on a whole range of topics. I have bookmarked this one.

I can tell you without qualification that I have always been treated fairly by members of ROCOR. There are surely doctrinal issues that could be worked out a bit more clearly and accurately. Sometimes I have been quite distressed trying to explain that I do not recognize Catholic teaching as it is understood by many members of ROCOR but in terms of morality and the spiritual life, I am made to feel right at home and so, over the years, have made myself at home. I am glad you are having a similar experience here.

Thank you for your candid reply.

Are you Russian?

Wow, thanks for putting me on the spot, Eli, LOL!!

First allow me to adjust my flame proof gutchies and prepare for the onslaught!

OK, here goes....

I am by birth, Carpatho-Russian and a loyal son of Holy Mother Russia. Do I consider myself a Russian? Yes, I do, although my homeland has not been under Russian control since the time of Knaz Daniel.

Ahh. I suspected as much, but could not know without asking. It's an interesting world, isn't it?

You are also a healer. A caring soul.

We have met, time past, in less auspicious circumstance that you do not recall which is a blessing. It is very good to meet you again.

Eli
