Throughout 93 years of life, my former father-in-law, Don, has been noted as loving, gentle, kind, and hard-working and no one has any doubt that he is ready to meet his Lord.

He's been blessed to have been able to remain very active until about six months ago and, if he has suffered at all, has borne it silently lest anyone else be distressed - which is typical of him. Just a month ago, we were blessed by his presence at the wedding of my daughter, Betsy, at which he managed to abandon his wheelchair long enough to dance with her.

Don is now in the final days, if not hours, of his life. I ask your prayers for him, his children, and his grandchildren, that he soon be at peace and be lead into a place where there is neither suffering nor sighing, but only life everlasting.

Neil

Lord, Jesus Christ, Who suffered and died for our sins that we may live, if during our life we have sinned in word, deed or thought forgive us in Your goodness and love. All our hope we put in You; protect your servant Don from all evil. We submit to Your will and into Your hands we commend our souls and bodies. For a Christian end to our lives, peaceful, without shame and suffering, and for a good account before the awesome judgment seat of Christ, we pray to you O Lord. Bless us, be merciful to us and grant us life eternal. Amen.

And when this mortal hath put on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting?
57 But thanks be to God, who hath given us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Don reposed peacefully early Tuesday evening. On behalf of his children, grandchildren, and myself, I thank my brothers and sisters for their kind prayers.

May the Lord receive him into a place of light and love, where there is neither suffering nor sighing, but only life everlasting.

May his memory be eternal.

Thank you, Anhelyna, but don't be sorry. He was ready, wanting much to be with the Lord in Whom he had great faith, and with those who went before him, his beloved wife - his wonderful parents - and his dear siblings.

I know that the chance to see one of his granddaughters receive a doctorate in veterinary medicine and to be present at the weddings of two of his grandchildren in the past year gave him immense joy. If there was anything that he regretted, it may have been to not have seen a great-grandchild while he was here on earth but, when they do arrive, no one has any doubt that he'll be watching.

This picture [profile.ak.fbcdn.net], taken at Betsy's wedding, 6 weeks ago, will likely be the most treasured of our many memories of him.
