The Site for me is still a little messy frown

When I go to it I get all the headers and drop down menus but then there is a large white space and I have to scroll down a long way for everything else . Does anyone else have this ?I've tried with both FF an Safari .

Having said that the Church Tour is outstanding. I'll happily put up with any shortcomings just for that .

hmm, are you still at the beta site or the final - http://www.acrod.org/

I just looked at it with IE8, FF, and Chrome. Took a second or so to load, but no white space.

Many years,

Neil

I'm on the final .

Have just cleared cookies and history and it's still the same frown

A huge white space and also an oddity on the Left hand side - there's a lot of unreadable text which starts in the blue border and spills over onto the white , where it becomes readable.

Looks to me that you have conflicting plug-ins on your browsers (a common problem with Firefox users that tend to have more plug-ins then necessary). The only solution is to deactivate all, clear your cache, close your browser, then restart it. One by one then activate the plug-ins until you find the conflicting one. When you find it, that is the plug-in to keep deactivated or simply uninstall.

I am using Safari and IE8 (depending on the computer OS platform) and no problems in viewing that website.

With Safari you have to do a complete reset for it to work, which means a complete history and cookie reset also, along with cache.

Hmm - did that but only took out cookies for Acrod

May I humbly make a suggestion - split these posts off and take them to the Techie board ?

First, look at the site with another browser (i.e., Firefox, Internet Explorer). If is good there and not in Safari the issue is with Safari.

Second, clear your cookies. If you tried to remove only the cookies for one site you might have missed some (I don't know Safari so can't say).

Third, close down and reboot (which you should do at least once a day anyway).

How many junk programs are you running? They will interfere with how pages are displayed.

John - I get the exact same thing in both FF and Safari frown

Cookies have been cleared on both browsers .

Cache has been emptied on both

History likewise has also been cleared.

I have disabled my plug ins in FF but can't find a way of deleting them .

Both Browsers were shut down this afternoon .

The MacBook was also shut down too [ normally it would just have been put to sleep ]

Oh BTW Macs do not need daily rebooting .

I suspect that the only thing I can do is to uninstall both FF and Safari and then start again with no Plug ins or addons [ such as AdBlock Plus ]

This does not really appeal , since before I do this I will need to install yet another Browser to allow me to get FF and Safari again. I will also have to remove any preferences etc and the plists for both FF and Safari before attempting to reinstall.

If anyone can think of another solution - please let me know

Problem solved with a completely new install of both FF and Safari after a digging out of the various bits [ plists etc ] . It took some time to do but now all is working properly.

Now to set up both Browsers properly again

And that's where I had some fun frown

The problem is still not completely solved and as long as I have nothing installed other than the brand new shiny FF with its ugly [ in my eyes] default skin and leaving Mozilla as it's home page , together with no add ons , ad blockers and book marks then the Acrod Site is OK.

This is going to take some time but I'll get it sorted out eventually .

I still have to set up Safari as well .

Father, there's a less drastic solution.

Start firefox in a different profile. In fact, make a new profile for this purpose, with no plugins at all.

I keep my main profile (default), and have a quick command to use the "-P" option.

If I'm even vaguely suspicious of a site, or if something doesn't work (I keep cookies & anything that flashes locked down tight), I launch in a "disposable" profile. I also delete these profiles regularly.

Multiple profiles are also useful when you need to do something like log into two accounts on the same website at the same time; multiple profiles can run at once and each has separate cookies.
