I've received those news from the Portuguese service of Evangelizo.org
The news says the Pope is going to meet "all" Eastern Patriarchs, but in fact the list they present lack the Coptic Patriarch (and they're considering only "official" patriarchs).

I'm not seeing a "news" section on Evangelizo.org Here's an English source [ asianews.it] re a meeting: "Pope and Patriarchs meet to discuss the future of the Church in the Middle East" The growth of fundamentalism in the Middle East and the concerns it is generating among Christians, the importance of Islamic-Christian dialogue, the status of Eastern Catholic Patriarchs in the Universal Church and the Ecclesiastic jurisdiction in Kuwait and the Gulf States are the four main issues the seven Eastern Catholic Patriarchs will discuss tomorrow with Benedict XVI at their request. Note also the final paragraph During their stay in Rome, the Patriarchs will also participate on 21 and 22 September to a preparatory session for a special assembly of the Synod of Bishops for the Middle East, which should be held in the Vatican next year. I don't actually see any mention of hats as a topic, but doubtless you are right there. ;-) On a serious note, prayers. Difficult topics they seek to address.

I forgot to say that it seem the Pope received the suggestion of our Patriarch Gregory III, given in the Cathedral of Amman:
"Indeed, we express before Your Holiness a wish that the Patriarchs who surround you today may be able to meet from time to time around the Pope to inform him about our circumstances, our role, our hopes and our trials, for we know that you have a great affection for the Middle East, which is the cradle of Christianity and a meeting-place of civilisations".

In part it sounds a bit like the Indian problem of the Latins setting the boundaries of juristictions and churches and dividing regions up. In the subcontinet the Eastern Churches can only regard the SW corner as their home territory and the rest as outside it and they are in the same country. The interestng point of the Gulf is that Eastern Churches of India are also well represented in the region as well. I shall watch this space for news.

The article from CNS that I linked earlier states that: The Vatican press office would not confirm reports of a Middle East synod, but it released the names of 11patriarchs and other representatives meeting the pope Sept. 19 at his summer residence in Castel Gandolfo.
They included the Chaldean patriarch, Cardinal Emmanuel-Karim Delly of Baghdad, Iraq; Latin Patriarch Fouad Twal of Jerusalem; the Lebanon-based Maronite patriarch, Cardinal Nasrallah P. Sfeir; and representatives of the Ukrainian, Syro-Malabar, Coptic, Melkite, Syrian, Armenian, Romanian and Syro-Malankar rites.
