A fitting metaphor, I think, for the "dialogue" or tension between the East and West is of two people looking at a Rorschach image. They both, clearly, see the very same image and yet they perceive it so completely differently. To one it can be a "bird" and to the other it can be a "dog." What can anyone do with a situation like this?

I try not to focus too much on the "now" but on all the progress that has been made since December 7, 1965.

That is a very good metaphor, and a highly commendable attitude.

My, what lack of charity for people calling themselves followers of the Lord, Jesus Christ!
