"What makes a false icon a false icon?"

A soccer ball and a soccer field, in this particular case.

Actually, if you read carefully, the Orthodox are not behind this. It was blessed by a Greek Catholic Bishop.

My apologies for any break in the flow of postings, as I merged the two threads on the subject (one from Icons, the other from Town Hall) into one.

What the writer of this "icon" lacked in canonicity, he/she made up for in creativity.

Apologies for digressing from the topic, but someone (Rybak, I believe) made a point earlier regarding Monastery Icons. Can he or anyone provide a link to the webpage at St George's Cathedral in Australia on which the MI ad/link appears.

It may be the head cold that has sidelined me for a week, but I can't find it. (Or was it called to the attention of the site's webmaster and removed? Which would be a great thing.)

Many years,

Neil

I am afraid its more about "anyway to make a buck" than it is about piety.

This preposterous cartoon is enough to turn an iconodule into an iconoclast.
